Final Friday at Penn Station:
The Charles Street Fall Festival

October, 2012: For the first time EVER, the city of Baltimore allowed the space in front of Penn Station to be used for a public event!

Final Friday at Penn Station: The Charles Street Fall Festival was held around the Man/Woman statue on Friday, October 26 between 3pm and 7 pm. The Historic Charles Street Association teamed up with Station North Arts & Entertainment District to host this special event.

Twenty fantastic vendors – including Mick O’Sheas, Station North Arts Café, Cazbar, Lumbini, Simmer Rock Farm, Scentsy Candles, and Gogo’s Retread Threads – were on hand, selling everything from pumpkins to oysters to jewelry, hot coffee, vintage clothing, collectible photos of Baltimore, and more.

In addition, Flying Dog served beer, and live music was sponsored by The Baltimore Folk Festival.

“It’s really important – especially in today’s uncertain economy – to foster community among the businesses and residents on Charles Street,” said Ben Stone, Executive Director of Station North. “That’s how you build community.”

Now in its third year of operation, The Charles Street Festivals were started as a way to help market and promote the businesses along Charles Street.

“This festival is a wonderful way to bring the Charles Street community together, and to show off some of Baltimore’s best restaurants and retailers,” says Kristin Speaker, Executive Director of the Charles Street Development Corporation.

This event was part of Free Fall Baltimore programming sponsored by The Baltimore Office of Promotion and the Arts. We deeply appreciate the support of our donors and media sponsors who make Free Fall Baltimore possible. Special thanks goes to Susquehanna Bank, The Abell Foundation, Joseph & Harvey Meyerhoff Family Charitable Fund and the National Endowment for the Arts, with additional support provided by American Trading and Production Corporation and the Henry and Ruth Blaustein Rosenberg Foundation.
